Marta AnT

Marta Ant is an Italian multi-disciplinary visual artist, performer and choreographer currently based in Berlin, Germany.

She considers movement as a vocabulary that she stretches to several mediums such as live performance, video, sculpture and set installations.

A post-contemporary artist who observes the present through surreal lens, to explore themes of existence. She combines material and bodily forms of expression, bringing life to subconscious visions through a contemporary feminist perspective. Her movement practices combine physical theatre, comedy and improvisation, using repetition as a ritualistic tool to stimulate the imagination and to play between reality and fiction.

Through her works, she aims to explore the ongoing dialogue between tradition and transformation, focusing on reinvention through imagination, projection and listening, intimacy, collective power and play.

"Marta Anti’s practice refers to the adaptability of the matter in the context of a constant transformation. Anti’s work is embedded of temporality and multi- dimensions , but they also coexist with self-obliteration: her pieces bring together anthropomorphism in gestures, skin, pop culture and contamination of diverse range of medias which recall an endless mutation process."
